As a licensed provider of WMTC certification courses we have the ability to offer two different formats:

Standard Courses are classic instructor-facilitated courses that incorporate classroom lectures and utilize written examinations for the WAFA & WFR courses

Hybrid Courses are an online-learning option with on-line testing that allows us to condense in-person training and assessment into a shorter practical session -       PLEASE NOTE: the overall time commitment for the course remains similar. However, the online-learning option allows a good portion of that commitment to be completed at one's own pace BEFORE the practical session commences.

Remember every WMTC course incorporates individual performance assessment, hands-on skill labs, realistic simulations, and written scenario-based homework!

Wilderness First Aid

Our standard WFA is 3-days long; the practical session of our hybrid WFA is only 2-days but requires pre-course study and successful completion of an online exam in order to attend. Either course may be used to decertify current WMTC WAFA, WFR, & WEMT certifications. WFA may be the best choice for weekend campers, people taking day hikes within cell phone coverage, and those who are just looking for basic instruction. If you like it and want more, you can always come back later and take a longer, more intensive course. Our WFA course meets the Boy Scouts of America and the American Camping Association trip leader requirements.

Wilderness Advanced First Aid

Our standard WAFA is 5-days long; the practical session of our hybrid WAFA is only 3-days but requires pre-course study and successful completion of an online exam in order to attend. Either course may be used to recertify current WFR & WEMT certifications. Graduates from approved wilderness medicine schools may recertify with us if they are currently certified OR in their grace period

CPR class

Wilderness First Responder

Our standard WFR course is 9-days long; the practical session of our hybrid WFR is only 5-days but requires pre-course study and successful completion of six online exams in order to attend. Adult & Child CPR/AED certification is included.

The WFR is ideal for outdoor professionals, those who take multi-day or longer personal trips, those who take part in high risk activities (rock climbing, whitewater paddling, mountaineering, multi-week expeditions of all kinds, etc.), or those who simply want to know more about wilderness medicine.

Certification as a Wilderness First Responder is the industry standard for outdoor instructors and guides. We recommend re-taking the full course every six years.
